Description: Get pumped for RUOC’s most extreme trip of the Spring Semester! On 4/12 the country roads will take us home to the mountain (momma) state of West Virginia. Once we are in the place where we belong, we will be doing the spring double dare down the Lower New River. Expect class IV+ rapids, plenty of adventure and all the John Denver you can handle!

Description: We will be going to two locations: Gettysburg, and then Centralia. First we will explore Gettysburg which is really interesting especially if you’ve never been there. On the second day, we will drive over to Centralia, which is a deserted ghost town because the underground coal mine has been on fire since 1962. If you like adventures then this trip is for you!

Description: Announcing the 3rd annual installment of Paul’s Atheist Day Hike! The “Stairway to heaven”(tm) caught on fire the night before last year’s festivities so the trail was closed off, forever proving that God hates people who thru-hike the AT. This year, we will be having a combination hike and barbecue (a shake and bake, if you will) with another attempt up the “Stairway to Heaven”(tm) to Pinwheel Vista followed by a barbecue/naval adventure at Wawayanda Lake in Wawayanda State Park. All denominations (or lack thereof) welcome!

Description: EXPERIENCED BACKPACKERS WANTED! Get ready for RUOC’s most intense adventure of the semester! On Friday 2/15 we will be leaving at the the crack of dawn for Cranberry Lake in Wanakena, New York. We will snowshoe 6 miles across a frozen lake and cabin up for the night. On Saturday, we will hike to Cat Mountain for a stunning view of the Northwest corner of the Adirondacks and head back to the cabin for a night of campfire stories and smores. We will leave Sunday morning and be back on campus Sunday night. Snowshoes and crampons will be provided, however we are requiring interested participants to have backpacking experience, fitness, a pair of insulated winter boots and a love for subzero winter conditions. Pine Barrens Backpacking
Title: Pine Barrens Backpacking

Description: This is a great beginning backpackers trip in the flat and sandy Pine Barrens. All levels of expertise are encouraged to come. I will be teaching beginners the essentials of backpacking such as how to pack efficiently and important items to have. The SHED has most of the gear you will need so there are no excuses for not going! So if you’re looking for a relaxed weekend of hiking and camping in the woods, this is the trip for you. Costs of the trip will include food gas and a camping permit. I have run this trip in the past for around $30 per person, but that number can go down if there are a lot of people interested. I hope you all can come and check out some of my old stomping grounds in the great Pine Barrens.
