About This Trip

Nobebosco is located deep in the mountains of Blairstown, NJ, which is part of fabulous Warren County. We will be camping in cabins and the trip will feature a full menu cooked over a campfire. You can look foward to a very relaxed weekend with limitless possibilities for activities. Depending on weather there are many great hikes around the area including an abandoned camp, B-52 crash site, various local springs, and a wonderful view of the area from atop the ridge. We will also spend time relaxing around camp, playing games, and just plain having a great time. The camp also features many wonderful scenic views and rustic cabins. For more information about the camp you can visit the website at http://www.nobebosco.org. If you have any questions about the camp or the trip feel free to contact

Note: This trip is already full, but you can add your name to the waiting list in case anyone drops out.

About This Trip

There's a ton of people interested in the Camelback/Poconos Ski Trip for February 16-18, which is AWESOME!! Just to recap, this trip will be for 1 or 2 days of skiing at Camelback, and we will be staying at RUOC President Melissa's lake house nearby the ski resort. We'll drive up Friday night to the Poconos, chill out and then hit the slopes for Saturday and Sunday. Email me, if you have any more questions. Read below for all of the latest details....

1. SIGNING UP

Since there are so many people interested in this trip, official sign-ups will be by email. IF YOU EMAILED ME ALREADY, PLEASE EMAIL ME AGAIN WITH ALL OF THESE DETAILS! Unfortunately, we can't take non-Rutgers students on this trip because of limited space and because Rutgers is funding a significant portion of the cost. We can only take non-skiers/boarders if there is space. If you are 100% sure you'd like to go, email me ASAP with this info (just copy and paste this into a new email and fill it out):

  • Name
  • Phone Number
  • Ski or Snowboard?
  • Need Rentals?
  • Need Lessons?
  • Interested in Skiing 1 day or 2 days?
  • Have you been on a RUOC trip this year?
  • Can you drive? Do you have a ski rack? An efficient car?

Email me by Wednesday (Feb 7) at 12:00pm and then I'll email you back Wednesday afternoon to tell you if you got a spot or if you are on the waiting list. We'll give spots out to RUOC members that have been on another trip this past year first, then to first-time members. Don't not sign-up because you don't think you'll get in though! We'll try to bring 7-10 new members at least.

If you got a spot, you NEED to come to the meeting Wednesday (Feb 7) at 9pm in the shed (http://ruoc.rutgers.edu/theshed for directions). If you can't make it Wednesday, get a friend to bring your cash and waiver or we'll give your spot to an alternate! Bring either cash for the full amount or a check to "Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey" for the full amount (write "RUOC skiing" on the memo line).

You also NEED to bring a waiver, found at http://ruoc.rutgers.edu/docs/skiing-mountaineering.pdf. For the waiver, you need to call home and get your insurance carrier and ID number, or if you don't have insurance you can write "Rutgers Student Insurance" on the line for insurance (but don't do this if you have other insurance as Rutgers doesn't provide much coverage).

GUYS THAT SIGNED UP LAST WEDNESDAY: My laptop crashed and I lost the spreadsheet with your email addresses, so please email me again and I'll put you on the list, thanks!

WE NEED DRIVERS (of cars that get good gas mileage)! You'll be reimbursed for gas money, and it might increase your chances of getting a spot.

2. PRICES

All of these prices include: breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, dinner on Saturday, and bagged lunches on Saturday and Sunday; gas money for drivers; lift tickets. We need at least 15 people in order to get the group rate, and we will definitely have 15 for Saturday. But, if there are less than 15 people interested in skiing for 2 days, I will tell you when I email you on Wednesday the prices without the group discount. Then you can decide whether or not you still want to ski for both days. If you don't ski on the second day, some people will probably go hiking in the Water Gap while everyone else is skiing.
Prices for ONE DAY of skiing/boarding, including food and gas money:

  • Lift ticket only, no rentals, no lessons: $20
  • Lift ticket, *ski* rentals, no lessons: $30
  • Lift ticket, *snowboard* rentals, no lessons: $35
  • Lift ticket, *ski* rentals, lessons: $35
  • Lift ticket, *snowboard* rentals, lessons: $40

These prices are so low because Rutgers is subsidizing this trip by about $40 per person!

Prices for TWO DAYS of skiing/boarding, including food and gas money:

  • Two lift tickets, no rentals, no lessons: $56
  • Two lift tickets, two days of *ski* rentals: $86
  • Two lift tickets, two days of *snowboard* rentals: $99
  • Two lift tickets, two days of *ski* rentals, one lesson: $91
  • Two lift tickets, two *snowboard* rentals, one lesson: $105

4. INFO ON CAMELBACK SKI AREA

Camelback is the largest ski area in the Poconos, with 33 trails and 12 lifts. As of today (Sunday, Feb 4) they are 100% open with a 50" base! Its a great area for beginners because there are a lot of long, less difficult trails. Also probably the best place in the Poconos for more experienced skiers.
